Last week we took a little trip to Boone, NC. I haven’t been to the mountain since before I was married, 10 years ago. The main reason we haven’t been is the simple fact that my wife HATES heights and curvy roads. So curvy roads going up a hill is a recipe for disaster. I’ll have to say all went well until we arrived at Grandfather Mountain, that’s when it all came crumbling down. Let’s just say I took our three kids to the top of the mountain by myself. Our cabin was great and had a large campfire area complete with hot tub. We filled our days by going to Tweetsie R/R, Mystery Hill, Mass General Store, Linville Falls and gem mining. Each night was concluded with a marsh mellow roast and a dip in the hot tub. My son had the best time of all I think because he could pee outside and nobody was around to see. This was the start of an annual “Sears Family Trip” that I think we will make each Fall. Even if I have to sedate my wife.
